A new approach to science communication: kids4kids

How can science communication work when children do not just listen, but ask questions themselves, conduct interviews and create content?

In the radio contribution on Radio Jade, Wiebke Endres from Neues Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven and Dr. Sabrina Satzinger from the Institute of Avian Research talk about the project kids4kids – Bird Migration. The project grew out of the Akademie am Meer and was funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture.

At its centre is a new approach to science communication: students explore current research topics related to bird migration and communicate their findings in their own language. The result is a podcast and a mobile exhibition that make science tangible from children’s perspectives.

The contribution Neuer Weg in der Wissenschaftskommunikation: kids4kids can be found in the Radio Jade Mediathek.
