The guillemot jump on Helgoland has started

Since June 9th the young guillemots on Helgoland started to jump. The still flightless chicks jump from up to 50 m height into the water, where their parents await them, to lead them towards the open sea. Our team on Helgoland is now daily catching and ringing the chicks under the cliff. Based on the breeding survey result with more than 5000 breeding pairs, we expect another good season – last year more than 700 chicks were ringed.
