HPC University of Oldenburg

With the expanding research in avian genomics there is also an increase in the demand of bioinformatic expertise and high performance computing (HPC). With its cooperation with the University of Oldenburg, the Institute of Avian Research (IAR) benefits from the expertise and hardware offered by the HPC facilities.

The state-of-the-art multi-purpose-compute-cluster ROSA offers ample resources to support bioinformatic research at the IAR on a multitude of different genomic data types and analyses, such as currently e.g.:

  • high-coverage whole-genome res-equencing data (short reads, long reads, linked reads)
  • epigenetic data (methylation, chromatin accessibility)
  • transcriptomic data (short read, long read, single cell)
  • population level analyses (population structure, population history, trait association studies)
  • phylogenomic analyses (single gene based, whole genome based)

Bioinformatic support of analyses using the HPC facilities is provided by our resident bioinformatician.
