Research Quartet: Go or stay?

Setting off into the unknown

The Research Quartet episode “Go or stay?” is about migration. Why do people leave their home and move from the countryside to the city in order to settle there? The reasons are diverse.

Migration also occurs in the animal world. In Germany, for example, native breeding birds leave their home and move to other areas. The reasons for migration in birds differ from those in humans. They are closely linked to genes that coordinate behaviour and to environmental factors such as temperature conditions.

In the Research Quartet podcast, Miriam Liedvogel provides insights into the complex interplay of regulatory processes in the migratory behaviour of migratory birds.
