Fascination bird migration at the Akademie am Meer

What does bird migration sound like when children ask their own questions and share their enthusiasm for nature?

As part of the Akademie am Meer Teil III „Biosphäre“ on Wangerooge students in grades 4 to 6 from Wilhelmshaven explored the topic of bird migration. The academy was organised by Neues Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven. The Institute of Avian Research participated with Miriam Liedvogel and Sabrina Satzinger from the project kids4kids – Bird Migration.

After keynote talks and workshops on migratory birds, orientation and research, the children became science communicators themselves. In short audio contributions, they explain what fascinates them about bird migration, which questions they ask themselves and what they have learned about the journey of migratory birds.

The resulting podcast was broadcast on Radio Jade on 26 October 2024.
