rOLe model – Ornithologist

The rOLe model project of Faculty V - Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg introduces female scientists and members of underrepresented groups in science. The aim of the project is to make different career paths visible, encourage early-career researchers and provide insights into research, motivation and personal experiences.

Scientists from the Institute of Avian Research - including Miriam Liedvogel, Sandra Bouwhuis and Nathalie Kürten - have also been featured as part of the project. In the articles, they talk about their research, their path into science, support structures, challenges, and what they would like to pass on to young people interested in a scientific career.

The interviews show that science is not created only through data, methods and publications, but also through curiosity, perseverance, collaboration and an environment that enables development.

Photos and further insights into the work of the scientists can be found on Instagram.
