Discover bird migration interactively – for young and old
As part of kids4kids, a mobile exhibition on bird migration was developed that communicates scientific content in a vivid and interactive way, engaging visitors through a wide range of sensory channels. It represents the central element and heart of the kids4kids project and was co-designed by school students and researchers. The design, development, and construction of the exhibition modules were carried out in collaboration with the young, creative minds of the transdisciplinary design collective Belwerk.
The exhibition is suitable for use in schools, museums, educational institutions, and events of various formats. It is designed to be accessible to visitors of all ages. Across five thematic modules, different aspects of bird migration are highlighted – including general information on migratory birds, various migratory strategies, migratory behaviour, navigation, as well as methods and key questions of current research. The content is conveyed through multiple approaches: interactive stations, playful elements, and a virtual reality application provide diverse ways to engage with the topic.
A special feature of the exhibition is the „Vogelfunk“ („Bird Radio") – the integration of audio content from our kids4kids Podcast, featuring the voices of the participating kids. They guide visitors through the exhibition, adding a personal and authentic perspective.
The exhibition is designed to be flexible and can travel from place to place – like migratory birds themselves. For more information on how to borrow and host the exhibition, see: borrow mobile exhibition.
