The first common tern egg of 2025
On the 2nd of May, the tern team at the Banter See found the first egg of the season. It was laid by 10-yr old geolocator-lady Kamala, and presumably was co-produced by 20-yr old Bismarck. Kamala and Bismarck have bred together since 2022 and so far fledged two chicks, one in 2023 and one in 2024. Let's hope this egg turns into a fledgling too.
Kamala was a non-breeder in the years 2017 to 2021, and Bismarck also only bred rarely until meeting Kamala, fledging only one other chick, with an unringed lady, in 2017.
