Science Slam 2025

As in previous years, Wilhelmshaven was able to enjoy a Science Slam, organised by the NWDUG. Scientists from Wilhelmshaven and the surrounding area presented their research to the general public in short talks. Dr. Nathalie Kürten from the IAR, together with Dr. Moritz Mennenga from the NIHK, hosted the 5 slams from various fields of science in the Pumpwerk. Georg Langebrake from the IAR presented his PhD work on the inheritance of migration direction in blackcaps.

At the end of the evening, the crowd chose Muriel Sudhoff from the University of Oldenburg as the winner of the Science Slam with her presentation on heroic stories from medieval literature. Congratulations!

Guest star of the evening was the German champion of Science Slam 2024, Benedikt Wiggering from the "Nationalparkverwaltung Niedersächsisches Wattenmeer", who presented his winning slam titled “Who ate the carrion?”, providing insights into a Germany-wide project of the national parks.
