Investigating the European Robin Population in the Wold

Since mid-April, a team from the Institute for Avian Research, led by Sonam Kulkarni, has been out and about in the Wold of Bad Zwischenahn to study the migratory behaviour of European robins and associated ecological aspects. Every year, the team attaches radio transmitters to European robins, which can be detected by a stationary antenna in the area, and geolocators, which can then provide information on migration routes the following year when they are caught back. By now, the first birds that were fitted with a geolocator last year have already been recaptured. We are looking forward to the analysis of the data!
