Guest appearance in the “Watten-Post” Podcast - travelling with Tweety

The Institute of Avian Research was featured in the Podcast “Watten-Post” by the friends’ association National Park of the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea. In accordance with the currently ongoing Migratory Bird Days, the episode focused on a topic, which is very near to our hearts: bird migration.

To specifically explore this topic, Miriam Liedvogel together with Wiebke Endres from the Neues Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven (NGW) launched the project “Kids4Kids - Bird Migration”, funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. The project aims to give local students insights into the fascinating world of migratory birds and to spark their enthusiasm for scientific research. As part of this initiative – which is coordinated by Sabrina Satzinger – children recorded their own podcast, which will be part of a mobile exhibition on bird migration, scheduled for completion in 2026.

Lilian, a former NGW student, spent a year gaining insights into various aspects of our research through the “Drehtür Modell” program. In her contribution “Tweety the Migratory Bird” for the Watten-Post Podcast, she shares her fascination for migratory birds. With passion and scientific curiosity, she takes listeners on a journey from the North to the South Pole, explaining why birds migrate and how climate change affects their routes.

The Institute of Avian Research warmly thanks Lilian for her commitment and the inspiring collaboration!
