Exhibition - Emilia Tikka: The Path Within
In her exhibition, Emilia Tikka combines art and science, future and past, tradition, longing, memory, remembrance - and the animals in which this knowledge, the memory, the look back but above all the look forward is at home. Reindeer that bear the traces of the past and the possible future. The work speculates on a different kind of science that emerges from the relativity of time and the relationships of nomadic reindeer worlds. It deals with the idea of shared, embodied memories that live on in people, reindeer and the Johtingeaidnu - migration routes preserved over generations.
The art project was created in collaboration with Prof Dr Miriam Liedvogel, who provided scientific support for the project and held a panel discussion with Emilia Tikka at the opening of the exhibition on the topic of "Epigenetic Memories: On Migrating Birds, Reindeer Migrations, and the Bioscience of Epigenetics".
