My research interests lie at the intersection of seabird ecology, ecotoxicology, behavioural biology and conservation science, with a particular focus on how environmental change affects seabirds. After investigating spatial and temporal trends of body size variation in sable shearwaters, my research now addresses the links between pollution, disease, migration, behaviour and fitness in common terns.
As part of a long-term individual-based monitoring project at the Banter See breeding colony (Wilhelmshaven), my project combines tracking data (e.g. migration routes and wintering areas), mercury levels, pathogen prevalence and individual personality and sociality. Through my NaviSense fellowship, I now aim to investigate this question further with a PhD project.
