How does science sound like when explained by kids? This question is the focus of our pilot project ‘kids4kids’, which the IfV launched in collaboration with the Neues Gymnasium Wilhelmshaven (NGW). The aim of our project is to rethink science communication – by kids for kids. Children and students not only gain direct insight into research projects, but also become active multipliers themselves. The focus is on bird migration as a fascinating, global, and at the same time local phenomenon. Six high school kids from Wilhelmshaven worked with researchers to develop their own podcast in which they explored this fascinating behavior. kids4kids shows how science communication, research, and enthusiasm can be creatively combined, and we are very much looking forward to publishing the content in 2026 – stay tuned!
